Without Looking Back by John Lee, Austin Cat

Without Looking Back

Without looking back,

The shock made a hole.

No one noticed

Except the girl.

With one eye open,

One still in a dream,

She waved.

No one waved back.

Nothing but goneness

Tragedy struck again.

Was it fate?

Where’s the fight?

Where’s the will to hold on?

But it was necessary.

A final, soaking farewell

I’m sorry

Consequence awaits

Spurred on by the affliction of guilt.
